Train - Marry Me: This song is simply BEAUTIFUL!
It is very easy to break down something. You can take a stone and throw it through a window; that is easy. Try fixing it, and that takes longer. It takes longer to help someone who has been broken. That’s the work you’re doing.” - Desmond Tutu
Veteran stylist to the stars, June Ambrose launches a questionable line of modern day turbans.
I’m good with this trend, but for those of you dying to drop a pretty penny ($125-$150) to look ridiculous, Ambrose turbans come in a variety of prints and jewel tones including leopard, polka dots, fuschia, and gold.
For real though, I’m going to need yall to grab a bandana and call it a day. This trend is thankfully on it’s way out…
“Jumping The Broom” - Where is Tyler Perry?! Young Black Hollywood is coming for the title. No cheap laughs or exaggerated stereotypes here! “Jumping the Broom,” directed by Salim Akil and produced T.D. Jakes and Tracey Edmonds, is a wholesome, romantic comedy that may very well be reason enough for a family field trip to the movies.
With an all star cast including Paula Patton, Laz Alonso, DeRay Davis, Romeo, Loretta Devine, Meagan Good, Mike Epps, Tasha Smith, Pooch Hall, and Angela Bassett, it promises to heat up the big screen!
Movie drops May 6th… I sit in anticipation!
Say it ain’t so! Drag Queen D’Arcy Drollinger to play Lilo in an off-broadway play. Just when I thought I had hopped on the Lindsay Lohan train to success, with two big movies rumored to star the estranged actress, I come across this mess! Oh the shade…
Poor thing! Will it ever stop?!
The words “remember who you are,” usually followed me as a budding teen each time I raced out of my house. I’ll never forget the look on my pops face each time he said it. His expression more so read “stay yo’ a$$ outta trouble!”
As annoying as I found his ramblings at that time, I later on in life, realized the full potential of his uber wise uttering.
It’s silly how such few words, can pack such a heavy bang!
In a world consumed and obsessed with appearance, money, finding happiness and revelation in material things and sexual adventures, you can only imagine the appeal to dig in and get dirt-ay! And even though, we’ve all heard it before “what looks/sounds too good to be true may just be too good to be true,” we all get caught up.
There are a few rules I’ve learned in my young years that have kept me solid:
1. Never apologize for being yourself.
2. Always gaurd your heart.
3. Friends come and go, but family is forever.
4. Love other’s as though they hold greater value than yourself. If we put other’s before ourselves, there would never be anyone in dire need.
5. Love never gives up!
6. With practice comes growth and with growth comes success.
7. Surround yourself with those of healthy mind and heart.
While there are always exceptions to rules, it is just that simple. Life is simple! Figure out what you want and learn how to ask for it, and go for it; ALWAYS REMEMBERING WHERE YOU CAME FROM, WHO CREATED YOU, AND WHO YOUR ARE!
Xo… Ruu
This is what i woke up to yesterday morning …
